“Commit Your Way…”

Psalm 37:5 (NKJV) “Commit your way to the LORD, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass.”

The Hebrew word “GALAL,” which was translated “Commit” here, means “to roll” (literally or figuratively, as shown in Strong’s Talking Greek; Hebrew Dictionary).

The word “Way” was translated from the Hebrew word, “DEREK,” meaning “a road (as trodden); figuratively, a course of life or mode of action.”

So this Scripture is literally telling us to roll the road, or course, of our lives over onto the Lord.

When we aren’t doing our own thing, but have direction from the Lord and are walking the path He has chosen for us, we just trust Him to direct our paths and He brings it to pass.

Proverbs 3:5-6 (NKJV) says, “Trust in the LORD with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.

My question to you is this:

Do you want God in charge of your situation, your problem, you whole life?

First: “Commit your way to the Lord…”

That is a single decisive act. Committing your way to the Lord is like depositing money in a bank. You hand your money over to the teller, take your own hands off it, and obtain a receipt for it.

After that, you know that you have deposited your money in the bank. The receipt is your evidence.

Second: “Trust also in the Lord…”

Commitment is a single act, but trust is a continuing attitude. Once you have deposited your money in the bank, you do not go on worrying whether it is still there, or whether the bank knows what to do with it. You just trust the bank.

In this case, however, you are not rusting the bank, you are trusting the Lord.

Third: He will “bring it to pass…”

Yes! The final step is the Lord’s. He will do it! From then on you go on trusting the Lord, that is the attitude. This gives you the wonderful, peaceful assurance that the Lord will do it. The Lord of Host is in control!

You can trust the bank with your money, and you can trust the Lord with your problems. Just take to Him in prayer, commit it to Him, and continue trusting Him. What about your receipt?

That is the witness of the Holy Spirit within your heart that God has accepted your commitment. Hebrews 4:16 (NKJV) “Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need.”

We should have complete confidence in approaching the Lord, not only when we have done everything right but even when we have messed up. We can come boldly before the Lord if we are resting in the finished work of Christ and not in our own goodness.

Blessings!
